See ya, 2014

Can you believe 2014 is behind us already!? Its almost unreal how quickly the year went by. This last year brought so much change for our family. Rue was born at the end of 2013 so this was our first full year as a family of four. It was an amazing first year, watching Rue grow. All those amazing milestones that come with the first year and watching Luna fall into her role as a proud, loving, big sister. But it was also kind of terrible...lets be real, parenting is hard, man! Going a full year with no sleep! Rue is an early riser and on top of that, until she turned 1 she got up 2-3 times a night. Now I know this is nothing new, and most of you mamas out there can relate. But this was definitely new to us! Luna started sleeping through the night at 4 months and never looked back! How naive we were to think baby #2 would be the same. Thank goodness Rue is sleeping through the night these days though and we are starting to feel like humans again, maybe even doing a little more than just surviving throughout the day and the circles under my eyes are very slowly lifting. I have had some of the best times of my life last year (really the best!) yet it is also the hardest year our family has seen. Luna had her first trip to the E.R. and has the chin scars to prove it,  Last May my husbands job situation changed suddenly and unexpectedly which left us in a hole that we are still struggling to work our way out of. That kind of stress can be so hard on a family and its a constant struggle to keep our heads up and not let the girls (or our marriage) feel the weight of what we are going through. But we are understanding now more than ever, how to see the good in things even when it seems like there is none, and how to have fun and be happy in the worst of times. I mean, these years are never coming back to us. This. is. it. We are working hard together to better our situation and taking the rest in stride because after all, its so hard to be miserable when your surrounded by the people you love the most! I know going into 2015 will still be a challenging year but that's okay, there are lots of happy memories to be made and I cant wait!

2014 you were tough...not all bad though. 2015? lets do this!
